BMT Library WiFi Management System
Overview
The BMT Library WiFi Management System project in Abuja, Nigeria, initiated in July 2025, focused on designing and deploying a reliable hotspot infrastructure using MyHotspot on Windows. The project involved testing multiple captive portal solutions, including building a custom accounting backend and exploring a self-hosted RADIUS authentication server. OpenWRT firmware was experimented with on routers to support advanced features and network bridging. Additionally, library personnel received training in system management and user onboarding. Early statistics indicate a potential 10% increase in weekly revenue from enhanced internet access offerings.
The goal: To design and deploy a reliable hotspot infrastructure for BMT Library to improve internet access offerings and potentially increase weekly revenue by 10%.
